Summer Sales Up and Downs

ebay may 24.16 031

Meaning to update my summer results for a couple months now, Summer has just been too busy, several “for sale” projects are in the works but I dont expect them listed until probably late Sept/Oct, when I do another big push of figures..

Just some final updates on stuff I previously talked about :

Starting with the above piece, sold to nice gentleman in Brazil for a cool $100.00
I also got a note it arrived safe and sound.

Heritage Dungeon Dwellers totally gone, Final Net was 187.50 below my $200 expectation but still just over $5 a figure in the end.

Warhammer Empire: I can say its totally gone, but I havent gotten to sprues and probably 2 dozen loose or primed amd based figures some of them decent metal OOP figs, not Idea what I’ll get for them but right I over $2200.00 in sales on my Empire this year.

My Warmachine was as depressing as I thought it was going to be, netting only $105.00!!!!
For the entire lot of over 50 figures , cards, tokens and all. I know I could have held for individual auctions and got more for the painted stuff, but its was so depressing that I just put up as a lot and was done with it. I was sure I’d get over $200 with dozen bidders and double the watched but its all guys out pennying each other. Once again do not invest in the game, if you ever plan to move it.

Currently I have some Lord of The Rings box sets most still in shrink wrap up for sale , I moved the Cave Drake which I picked up as prize in a tournament like 4 years ago for a easy $60.00. It sold in about 30 mins posted as a “buy it now” , other boxes have some interest, I am sure they will go eventually, I have and easy 30+ unopened blisters for LotR some new old stock going all the back to 2001. They’ll be listed next, and I havent thought about selling my painted LotR yet or my vintage citadel ME 85′ LotR figs…I think in the end Lord of the Rings sales will easily beat my Warhammer Sales..

Overall I am finding Vintage Lead does decent except for Citadel which is most collectible and is exceptional. Hirst models are doing well too, not in a time vs effort scale, as I would never build on a commission either of the Hirst models I sold for those prices but to get rid of them after the fact when I am out of room and they are collecting dust. I’m happy

The reality alot of people dont trade miniature on ebay, gamers are infamous frugal so they use numerous other services to avoid putting things up on ebay. Ebay is for items that appeal to collectors, are hard to get, Out of Print or are completed and well done is really the only way to go anything else ends up like my Warmachine lot, but that’s ok.

My vaults are deep, and i’ll be looking at moving probably 70% of my LotR collection this year,  that Conan game I keep talking about looks amazing and the Kickstarter says they are finally shipping in October, it should make a good Christmas gift for someone.; I also am going to move all my 15mm Sci Fi models which generally go very cheap so we looking at a big lot for a loss minus some painted figs I am going break out.

Finally with some fantasy figures I am putting up for sale, I’ll probably move some generic fantasy and sci figs all the way, and few other odds and ends.

Once the next big listing hits ebay, sometime after labor day I’ll add results and new items.

Recent Sales and More

ebay april 2016 various 102

So far, I must say I am impressed with my base10studios moniker and the resulting sales. I recently sold this Lord of the Rings terrain piece which cost me zero  other than some hydrostone plaster as it was created with scrap materials from other projects. You can read my original post from back in 2011 when I just finished it here.  Overall it didn’t take me that long and I netted $75.00 for it with a “buy it now”. for something that’s been collecting dust on the shelf since 2012, I’m great with that.

If you noticed my Conan post where I opine about the lure of shiny things on Kickstarter that you wont see for along time, you’ll be glad to know I quickly move the Ares Strategy game for $75.00.

My Warhammer Empire Army is now completely gone with exception of two loose not very good extra units and some raw metal models. I am estatic to report I netted over $2000.00!! for the Army over the course of the last 3 months. This is 300% more than I was expecting if I was forced to sell it as a whole or at a convention swap meet. Moral of the story do not sell your stuff in large lots or as whole armies unless you really just want to dump it quick. There is money to be had if you are willing to wait it out. I am close to shedding the last of my Warhammer collection, I am down to loose sprues, raw metal models and some Lizardmen that were never finished that I now have the motivation to eventually get to. Warhammer might be dead, but it will never truly die.

Warmachine. In the antithesis of Warhammer, I wasn’t getting any traction on some of my finished Warmachine models. The people  who play that game just really dont care about painted models enough to pay the extra for, at least on ebay .As a result my Cryx army is going up as one group lot and I dont expect more than $200 for the whole thing even with it be close to 50 models and some really nice paint,  because in Warmachine, unless a unit plays well rules wise and/or works as part of some tactic the models just aren’t worth what you pay for them, I really hate that. Warmachine isnt a game to invest in, unless you just love the game , the secondary market just about worst I have seen of any popular contemporary gaming system.

Heritage Dungeon Dwellers. My original DD models have been up for awhile some of the tougher to find ones went quick, but ones I thought I’d sell right away surprisingly have not. I am $150.00 on completed sales but about $75.00 worth of models still posted for sale. In end I’ll probably have to discount that to about $50 to move it unless the right fan comes along, so $200 for the first miniatures I ever owned as a boy is ok. because In the end I really just wanted to find them a good home.

Con Swag.  Dont forget you con swag folks, older Convention Swag is becoming increasing collectible. And even some current freebies are holding their value. Privateer Press have been giving Warmachine starters away for years and I always have sold them for around $25.00 . This year however I flipped the swag bag  Hordes Starter and the Malifaux mystery box for $46 and $28 respectively which totally surprised me. I have also seem some older promo models and OOP Black Library books going for decent money as well, so check your stash.

while I think my current totals are impressive alot of has to off course with selling the Warhammer Army, I am curious to see where my monthly sales this summer I move into newly painted items for sale and the continuation of older models I am phasing out.

That its for now.

Heritage vintage Lead hits ebay

dungeondwellerscots0001

While I never owned the above,  and I cant believe I didn’t. It was probably because in 1980 I was burning through my allowance buying the Gold Box Grenadier product.  still , I managed to collect a decent collection of Heritages famed Dungeon Dwellers line during its existence.  What still remains after 36 years of life in 5 states, has finally eclipsed its time with me. The key factor here being my very reason for starting this blog, ” I just can not keep it all” . And so the next piece of gaming nostalgia I am letting go of, goes live This Sunday at Noon EST. It’s a not huge selection, about 35 models, but its alot of the models that people who collect DD are after. I hope they find  a good home.

Warhammer Fantasy-Empire

acon2bcountdown2b040

One of the last shots I took of my completed Empire Army for Warhammer Fantasy some time early 2011 I believe. While this is only a portion of it – 25 auctions, including everything you see here is already for sale and more is posting daily. I have already moved some of the big guns , like the Steam Tank, but there are lots more for sale many unpictured units, raw figures , sprues and kits.

Because I am using  ebay there is a a mark up due to ebays hard tithe of 10% then you have the  3% Paypal fee on top of that and then I have figuring shipping materials to make sure things arent damaged, in short these are going for a premium but I am trusted seller going on 16 years with 100% feedback on ebay. If you are reading this and want to work out a friendly price on something you see there contact me and I am happy to pull auction and sell to you direct. If you are more comfortable with sticking to ebay, all my listings are open to offers considering any offer up to 20% off the listed price.

Please search ebay id : base10studios  for my latest auction and feel free to come back here and ask any questions.

Welcome to a new chapter.

old_coast_10_rex252520eleven252520escapes

Welcome to base10studios,  this site is a showcase for my miniature modeling and painting projects that are for sale, on ebay or directly thru contacting me here. I’ve been the author of the hobby blog Plastic Legions for 10 years running now, and its a blog that covers everything from gaming commentary to all matter of subjects concerning miniature modeling, collecting and painting. While I have always featured my models there, this site is specifically for projects that are for sale using my ebay ID : base10studios.

Those of you that know me that might be stopping by will ask, “why do you need 2 blogs, when you have not been very active the last few years anyway?” fair question, and true. However as you know Plastic Legions has an enormous amount of material on it and while I’ll still post the usual there when I have time, this site is really for clearing out my enormous collection of finished models and my foundering collection of unfinished items, as well as some select new items.  That is all I really hope to do here, no commentary, no new projects unless they are going right up for sale, as well as posting any relevant information  not allowed on ebay.

The next question, I’ve already gotten before I have even posted this is “are you now commission painting” the answer is No, but I never say never. I will be painting new items from my collection directed at the RPG player market as opposed to the wargaming market, but  I really only like to paint what I “like” and my tastes are all over the place. So if there is something of mine you’ve seen , you like or having some along the lines of the type of work I do and would like my to give you a quote, feel free. If I pass on it or simply can’t do it, I certainly direct you to number of talented people who can.

Finally, I have been working on a generic set of skirmish rules for both Sci Fi and Fantasy for years now, I continue to play other similar games and then revisit my own rules with either new or inspired ideas, I have no idea how this well flesh out and if it will be an original product of a free release , regardless that some other point I have been toying with some rules based gaming products for years. if they ever see the light of day , they will be featured here under the same moniker.

So that’s it for now, and again welcome the first thing I am posting is about is my Warhammer, Empire Army, that I spent a zillion hours on  between 2007-2011 . Its been posted for about 10 days now on ebay and its selling pretty well. I’ll follow up here with some pictures and links to the listings.
